This app consumes 100% CPU when it executes, so I am going to write a replacement app with the same name that simply exits. I'll post the app if it works!

It will cause failures in acrobat in web browsers, is intrusive and backwards and clunky. Verdict=useless pain in the ass

Adobe registering file. It's clearly Spyware & Lagware. Loads anytime you view a PDF in a Web Browser, but not associated with actually helping you to open and view the PDF file. Don't suggest to remove, but you SHOULD disable it in Services, msc and block it with your firewall from all net access. It's a crap file, pure and simple.

Continues to load even if you don't have CS installed. Acrobat 7 contains it, and if you rename it, it will reinstall itself again. Use ZoneAlarm Pro to kill the process and block it from accessing the Internet (or anything else for that matter). Also seems to load multiple copies of Adobe Cleanup files, which are unnecessary.

It can cause serious performance issues and cause your system to appear to hang, especially if no Internet connection exists.

Adobe License Management Service. Also related is adobelm_cleanup.00001 or similar. Terminating the cleanup process(es) first usually makes sure adomelmsvc doesn't restart when you terminate it as well. This spyware contacts activate.adobe.com with your encrypted information. If it receives a response telling it that your copy is unauthorized, it can shut down the Adobe software package you are currently running. Blocking activate.adobe.com in the Windows XP hosts file seems to block its access, unterminated, the service tends to interfere with the program and causes slightly laggy response.

As with the iTunes DRM service, this can be misused by hackers to load programs in the background indefinitely. Is more persistent than a virus, because McAfee and Symantec don't view this as malware.

Adobe License Management Service is a DRM type of software to prevent piracy. If the .exe (usually located in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe Systems Shared\Service") is deleted or renamed, the program reinstalls via a .dll file (Adobelmsvc Installer.dll) included with every Adobe Suite application (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, etc.) once that program is next run. While it may keep a record of your machine-specific hardware, it does actually access the internet to check your serial number against a database, and possibly phone home to record license offenses.

Remove all permissions from it (right click, security tab) and it won't run and acrobat can't reinstall it!

Use Diamond software's ProcessGuard program & you will see that it installs drivers with consistently different and weird names each time it runs, & it's running times are not consistent. I got a deadly worm on my computer till recently & almost certainly it was using Adobelmsvc's drivers to move around the system. Be safe & block it & nothing happens to Photoshop.

It's one of those files that allow pirates to own cracked copies but nag legit users constantly every time they change their computer clock.

It runs in the background, spying on your PC to make sure you are not pirating their software. Doesn't work, either.

This is Adobe's license management service that is used to make sure you are not using a pirated copy of their software. It does this by examining your hardware on your computer and asking you to reregister if this changes. This can not be disabled as it will reenable when you use one of their products.
