It has been causing a lot of page faults. I think my system has it because my HP printer has a multi-card reader built in.

Hp Printers are good quality from the hardware but the amount of system resources software which the hardware uses is uncalled for. I have uninstalled all irrelevant HP software now since the above file was generating 4 times the number of page faults as explorer.exe. VERDICT: Good Printers/Bad Software

This process is continually loading advpack.dll over and over even when successful. This is what is causing the slow down noticed by some people. It's a harmless process, but another shoddy Hewlett Packard program.

It only uses 960k in my Task Manager, check HP.com for some updates for your product(s)

HP printers are good but then again when you install them, it loads a lot of crap at startup consuming resources.

It has a bug in it where it drains system RAM. I'd boot up and ctrl-alt-del and you can watch it's RAM usage increase by the second. This causes eventual error messages saying virtual mem too low. Essentially, it renders the computer unusable after some time, where you can't even ctrl-alt-del to end it. I had to hold down the power button.

When looked under "Task Manager" it shows up as an application with an increasing amount of Memory Usage, and eventually leads to the 'Virtual Memory Too Low" message, even when no other user-active program is being run concurrently. It is easy enough to kill it just by using "End Process", but the question remains how did it show up in the first place and why does it behave the way it does.

This file allows the user, through HP Photosmart software/program, to access/use the computers SanDisk (SD/SDisk; ) card reader (usually reads any size SanDisk memory card [to allow user to display/view digital camera photos, transfer digital images from camera to computer, etc.). This is one file (of however many that make up HP's PhotoSmart application/program) that should be kept on the computer after (correctly) being installed, remain unmoved (to avoid becoming lost, corrupted, or deleted accidentally or otherwise), and to have continuous availability for future use.
