Kensington Mouse (Trackball) When I downloaded the cd that came with it my spyware detector found a couple of things-may be false positives as I haven't seen any other comments but do a scan after installing to be sure-mine works fine after deleting the (possible) adware

Comes with Kensington mouse (trackball). It is possible that it is spyware. However, the reason it is put in high risk is because it needs to be able to take and push basic windows functions. Reason being, it has a few extra buttons giving the user the ability to assign commands to each, these may be unique to each program.

i have the track ball version and experience problems when my laptop goes to sleep. when it wakes up neither the mouse pad or joy stick work properly, the pointer just hovers around the edges of the screen. i have to plug in my usb mouse to make it do anything. definitely would not recommend this product.

I have used the Kensington Mouse Works track balls, THREE MODELS and KMW is not malware or anything bad. I couldn't work my audio-video editing work witout my track ball. Used them since 1999. I use XP Pro SP3.

Best practices for resolving kmw_run issues

A clean and tidy computer is the key requirement for avoiding problems with kmw_run. This means running a scan for malware, cleaning your hard drive using cleanmgr and sfc /scannow, uninstalling programs that you no longer need, checking for Autostart programs (using msconfig) and enabling Windows' Automatic Update. Always remember to perform periodic backups, or at least to set restore points.

Should you experience an actual problem, try to recall the last thing you did, or the last thing you installed before the problem appeared for the first time. Use the resmon command to identify the processes that are causing your problem. Even for serious problems, rather than reinstalling Windows, you are better off doing a repair of your installation, or in the case of Windows 8, executing the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth command. This allows you to repair the operating system without losing data.
