A screen capture and editing application. Harmless, useful and free

I find it quite useful. It's the only way I know of to "capture" part of an image or text to be able to just print that portion. The problem is, you can only "capture" what currently shows on your screen. Wondering if there is a newer version

Nice simple screen capture utility

My QA team of 40 testers all utilize this program. It will capture anything on a screen from the entire view to a blip. It can be copied directly into a word doc, and has proved to be an invaluable timesaver for our work. PrintKey2000 is no longer available for free, but is well worth the price. If you have it, however, it works just fine with XPPro most of the time. If it stops, just right click on the systray icon, select "Cleanup Registry and reset congfiguration..." and then reinvoke the exe. It's a marvelous program!

It's a great program. I have used it for years on numerous computers. I especially like the fact that i can print only a small portion of a screen capture and then print it in specifics portions of the print page. I can then capture another page and print on the preious piece of paper in a different location. Very handy when I know I'll be in the desert and not have any cell coverage.

Best practices for resolving Printkey2000 issues

A clean and tidy computer is the key requirement for avoiding problems with Printkey2000. This means running a scan for malware, cleaning your hard drive using cleanmgr and sfc /scannow, uninstalling programs that you no longer need, checking for Autostart programs (using msconfig) and enabling Windows' Automatic Update. Always remember to perform periodic backups, or at least to set restore points.

Should you experience an actual problem, try to recall the last thing you did, or the last thing you installed before the problem appeared for the first time. Use the resmon command to identify the processes that are causing your problem. Even for serious problems, rather than reinstalling Windows, you are better off doing a repair of your installation, or in the case of Windows 8, executing the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth command. This allows you to repair the operating system without losing data.
